Q: Can I select my own roommate?

A: Living ArtsEngine students are able to self-select their roommate from within the community. More information on roommate selection will be sent to students via U-M Housing.

Q: If offered a spot in LAE, how do I officially accept the offer?

A: If you have applied and received notice that you have been accepted to LAE, your spot is secure. You will receive additional information about the process of becoming a member starting in May and continuing throughout the summer.

Q: If offered a spot in LAE, how do I decline the offer?

A: If you wish to decline our offer, please reply to the offer, as soon as possible, stating that you wish to decline.

Q: I’m a transfer student. May I apply to LAE?

A: Due to housing constraints, Living ArtsEngine will not be able to accept transfer students for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Q: I have questions about my housing contract. Can your office help me?

A: While we can answer basic questions about the housing application, it is best to contact the Housing Information Office(HIO) for these questions.

Q: I have specific questions about the program that I do not see listed on the website. What is the best way for me to get a quick response?

A: Please email all questions to livingartsengine@umich.edu. This email is monitored by all Living ArtsEngine staff. One of us will get back to you as soon as possible.

Q: Are there any fees for participation in the program?

A: In addition to the Housing rate, Living ArtsEngine has a $100.00 program fee.These fees cover the cost of guest scholars and makerspace supplies. The amount will be billed to your student account in September.
