We’re so happy you’re interested in joining Living ArtsEngine!
First-Year students may Apply Now! The deadline to apply has been extended to May 13th at 11:59 pm to coincide with the University Housing Application. We will notify students of our admissions decisions on a rolling basis. For additional information about learning communities, please take a look at the FAQ’s and visit the Michigan Learning Communities (MLC) website. You will also find additional information on the housing website.
Q: Can I select my own roommate?
A: Incoming first-year students “room blind” with another Living Arts Engine student. All students are placed by our staff based on various factors that we believe fosters interdisciplinary growth.
Q: If offered a spot in LAE, how do I officially accept the offer?
A: If you have applied and received notice that you have been accepted to LAE, your spot is secure. You will receive additional information about the process of becoming a member starting in May and continuing throughout the summer.
Q: If offered a spot in LAE, how do I decline the offer?
A: If you wish to decline our offer, please reply to the offer, as soon as possible, stating that you wish to decline.
Q: I have questions about my housing contract. Can your office help me?
A: While we can answer basic questions about the housing application, it is best to contact the Housing Information Office (HIO) for these questions.
Q:I’m a transfer student. May I apply to LAE?
A: Yes. Fill out the MLC application and check the box indicating that you are a transfer student
Q: I have specific questions about the program that I do not see listed on the website. What is the best way for me to get a quick response?
A: Please email all questions to firstname.lastname@example.org. This email is monitored by all Living ArtsEngine staff. One of us will get back to you as soon as possible
Q: Are there any fees for participation in the program?
A: In addition to the Housing rate, Living ArtsEngine has a $100.00 program fee. These fees cover the cost of guest scholars and maker-space supplies. The amount will be billed to your student account in September.
